Ryder Wegner Wilburn has arrived!!

On June 16th we finally got to meet our little man!! He was a week past his due date and when we went in to the doctor's office they did an ultra-sound and decided to get us checked in to the hospital as my amniotic fluid was quite low. We checked into the hospital on Tuesday, June 15th and they finally broke my water at 6:30am on Wed. morning. My contractions started about half an hour later and continued until Ryder was born at 7:52pm Wed. night. He weighed 7lbs. 10oz. and was 21 inches long. So far, he has been a great baby and we have been having a blast getting to know him and trying to figure him out. It's funny having a baby and watching everybody try to figure out what he wants. I've determined that there really is no way to know what he wants when he fusses, you just find what works and makes him stop fussing. So far, he is sleeping great and eating really well. I guess we couldn't ask for much else!!

Waiting......still!

So we are still waiting on our little guy to decide it's time to come out and play. I guess the one concern I have had about being a parent is patience. Will I have enough patience with my child? Will I be able to refrain from going absolutely insane when he tests my patience? I think this is God's way of placing my first test in front of me. So far, I'm holding my own in the patience department although it is getting frustrating! My mother-in-law is here and we are all just waiting....and waiting.....and waiting! I'm running out of things to occupy my time. Yesterday I took my mother-in-law around to the downtown shops and we walked around for a couple hours and then yesterday evening we went for an hour walk with the dogs. I'm trying everything! I have an appointment with my midwife today and I hope that we are able to find out some more information. Maybe my next post will be about baby - keep your fingers crossed!

No Baby, but a really clean fridge door handle....

What is it about having a baby and the cleaning instinct? I think it is living in the fact that at any minute you could have a baby and who knows what you will have time for, if anything, once that occurs. Then there's the fact that you will have visitors to your house and so you want to keep it clean or the fact that because you could pop at any moment you kind of dictate what the people around you do so there's always people around to clean up after. Whatever the case may be - I am there. I just spent 20 minutes cleaning the crevices of the handle to my fridge. No joke!

This weekend was a wonderful weekend with my husband. On Friday, we had our weekly appointment then spent the afternoon playing disc golf. I went to prenatal yoga and my husband went back to the office for an hour and then we went to dinner with friends at a Thai restaurant I'd been wanting to try. I wanted spicy food (attempting to evoke baby to exit thy womb) and I wanted to make sure I know the best Thai restaurant. We made it to a movie as we agreed we weren't sure when we would get to do a movie theater again! We saw Clash of the Titans and I must say, I find it interesting that even in Greek Mythology, the son of man is who redeems society from the grip of evil Hyades (just an interesting note, but that is for another time). Our Saturday consisted of a morning walk (again, attempting to evoke baby out of womb) then running some errands. We decided on an afternoon nap so we could make it through the Drive-In movies! We loaded the Jeep with pillows and blankets and made it through two movies at the drive-in: "Prince of Persia" and "Robin Hood". Well, my husband made it through two movies. Sunday brought church and then disc gold with friends. An afternoon shower broke up the game, so we came back to our house, grilled, played yard games, and visited until time for bed with great friends. I must say it was a wonderful weekend. I definitely enjoyed what could be my last weekend baby-free?!!? I am ready.

Baby Name and Birthday Party!!

Aaron celebrated his 30th birthday yesterday and I have planned him a party for this Saturday, the 29th. We invited all of his office and our friends. Also, Kolie (my sister) is coming out to see us for the long weekend. I have been frantically cleaning the house to get ready for the party and for Kolie's arrival. I see now why they say that you clean before you have the baby. I think it is that the cleaning gives your muscles a nice warm up and gets them ready for the birthing. Whatever the case, I can tell I'm getting ready to meet my new baby. We still have not decided on a name for our little guy and while I thought we had settled on Ryder, Tricen, or Holt with Wegner as the middle name - the plan has now changed; or at least taken a detour. I like the name Donald after my father and was telling Aaron that we could use Donald instead of Wegner in our son's name. Aaron then pointed out that if we used a name starting with C for his first name and Donald for his middle name then he would have the same initials as Aaron's dad. We thought that was pretty cool if we could make it work. Problem is - I just haven't found a C name to fall in love with. I really like names that no one else has - especially if we go with Donald as a middle name - and that makes it super hard because C names seem to be popular. We have been racking our brain and we've got our family working on it too, but still no luck. I like some of the suggestions, but haven't found the one I love yet. Maybe going with Wegner is a better idea! I'm posting a picture of my belly from this past weekend. We spent a lot of time in the Poudre Canyon and Aaron especially liked how huge this outfit made me look so insisted I pose for pictures.

Baby Pool - wanna win some money!?!

So some have asked about a Baby Birthday Pool, Aaron has set one up at his office if you are interested.

Here’s how it goes:
- $2.00 a block or 6 for $10.00 (pick a date and time, 1 hr increments) The brackets go from May 24th to June 22nd.
- First come, First Serve on blocks, no doubling up. Closest or exact pick takes it. Sorry for those that are not here in the office to see the hard copy, but I have added a spreadsheet below so you can see the available dates. I will make every attempt to update it regularly.
- Winner gets 1/2 and the other 1/2 goes to Baby Wilburn.
- If there is a tie with two people choosing the two hours on either side of the actual birth block, instead of using the closest down to the actual minute, the tie will be closest weight so give me your best guess on that too.
- We aren't setting a closing date, but betting ends when we leave for the hospital!!

Let the betting begin!!! Check the available dates below and email or call Little Star or Aaron with your picks.

Baby Kicks!

Aaron and I recently traveled to Aspen to ski with his parents and then to Crested Butte for a ski trip with friends. It was a wonderful trip and we returned home Sunday, Feb. 14th. When we laid down that night, I felt the baby kick and put Aaron's had on my belly. He FINALLY felt the baby kick for the first time. It was so sweet. There are definitely moments in life that are truly valuable. Aaron will not EVER forget the Valentine's Day present his little baby boy gave him...and neither will I. I am getting pretty big and definitely showing now.

It's getting closer. I am now officially 25 weeks and 3 days. Only 102 days to go!

It has been a wonderful beginning of 2010 for Aaron and I. We have not only gotten to find out we are having a boy and register for baby items (more on that below), but I have been working from home and things are going great! I already have more work than I had expected and I seem to be picking up more all the time. I guess it is the time of year when everyone goes to their accountant with their tax info. I know I won't be busy like this through the year, but I DO hope that we add a nice pad to our savings for our little one! Hopefully my boss will give me a bonus after tax season!! I have to say that working from home is wonderful. I thank Aaron all the time for allowing me the financial stability to take this risk and pursue this dream! It's a dream come true and praise be to Aaron for being great enough that I can do this. Now I need to send out some invoices!! ;)

But first, to the registering for baby items! This was a true experience. Of course my hormones were being kind of funky, but I was a little stressed about registering. It is a little intimidating. There are so many things to think about. How will we know which bouncy seat our kid likes? Then the store is telling you about their 90 day return policy. Well, will I even have the baby within 90 days of them giving me a gift? SERIOUSLY?!?! How does that work if my baby absolutely hates the thing or it doesn't fit them? Like I said - stressful!

Then I took a deep breathe (and a phone call to a friend) and realized that you just register for the items you like and you hope! You hope your kid will like the same things you like. You just try the products over and over because what they don't like one day, they may decide to like another. There's a LOT of changes going on in the first three months. Surely, we'll find something that works.

So I took Aaron's hand - the one that wasn't glued to the scanner - and we did it. We are officially registered at Target (Target.com), Babies R Us (Babiesrus.com), and Amazon (Amazon.com)! Hopefully this will be easy for everyone. We really tried to pick a selection of items from each place. Babies R Us has the majority of things which we didn't have any special requirements on, while Target has a few things, and then Amazon has the things that I know I want but wasn't able to find in either of the other two (i.e., we want to use cloth diapers) or items where I had some specific-type things I was looking for.

So, Yeah! It's done and we survived and we realized that it was just another adventure and while we may not have done it "right" - we did it - and we did it our way! Check that one off the list.

Next?

The First Glimpse of Our Little One

We had our first ultrasound appointment on Friday and I must say it was QUITE amazing. It was definitely a new feeling to see our little baby moving around inside my tummy. We were able to find out that we are having a little boy. He is about a pound right now and will be growing a lot in the coming weeks. We are half way there and have a TON to do to get ready for our little boy. It is definitely going to be a whirlwind, I'm sure. This is a huge adventure for the both of us and while we are excited about it, we are still a little nervous as well. There's a LOT for us to learn, but I'm sure we'll pick it up. Change is good and those of you who know us well know we have ALWAYS loved to take on new adventures! A little boy will definitely be a wonderful adventure...not to mention a little boy with Aaron Wilburn as his father! :) We feel really blessed that everything has gone so smoothly up to this point. The pregnancy hasn't been difficult or too uncomfortable for me and I am still able to do most things - although Aaron has said that he doesn't want me skiing anymore. :( That's a hard one to swallow! We are now in the process of trying to decide on a name for our boy. We have several we like and narrowing it down seems to have us coming up with even new ones that we like. It's like our list grows every time we try to shorten it! We will try to keep you all posted of all the changes we are going through, but I'm sure we'll miss a few - so feel free to call or email and check in. We love to hear from you guys!
